Even More Food

I really just blog rubbish don't I? I think it's partly due to the fact that I'm bored and lonely and that I haven't been outdoors since I've arrived because of the shitty weather!! It has rained every single day I've been here! Super-gay. So there have been no noteworthy photo opportunities. There has not been a blue sky for four days. On a good day, it also thunderstorms. GRRRrrrr...

Anyway, here's a photo of tonight's dinner, chicken curry katsudon (inspired by Smee!). It doesn't look very appetising, but as long as I maintain digestive function, I'm happy. I wish I could have brightened it up with a bit of greenery, but I had eaten the rest of the salad last night. Dessert was an apple.

More food

Yummo! I saw this in the supermarket and just had to buy it. Ok, so it wasn't something I would force everyone to eat, but if you enjoy having a bit of cinnamon in your life, then you must try it!

Dinner time

Eating alone is difficult, especially when you're only staying in one place for four weeks. Too long to eat out every night, too short to bother stocking up the kitchen. As demonstrated with last night's dinner (two chicken pies), it's easy to fall into the trap of eating crap.

In the spirit of anti-crap, I ate something relatively healthy tonight in order to compensate for the gym deficit. Ok, so I admit, half of it was instant pasta, but look! LOOK! I had salad too!

I didn't realise I cooked so much until it was all on the plate. I nearly vomited trying to finish it all. I was intending on eating some yoghurt for dessert, but I think I'll leave that for tomorrow night.

Two upsetting things happened today:
  1. My ipod DIED on the bus while I was on the bus home. It just totally crashed and I cant access any of the songs. I can't reset it and I can't plug it up to my laptop because I don't have the cable.
  2. Just after my ipod died, it started pouring with rain - not just pitter-patter showers, but proper thunderstorms with lightning. I think the Gold Coast felt my pain and hence, rained in empathy. Lucky I had an umbrella!

Ok, back to watching Grey's Anatomy.

I just realised I've posted blogs for three consecutive days. This must be a testament to how much time I have. Or a demonstration on how poorly I rank my priorities. There are still dishes to wash and Foxtel to channel surf.

**Final note: I didn't include this pic in my previous posts, cos there were too many photos of me and Bao! But I've had a special request to include one more pic of our 'cute' posing and shiny shiny hair.

Arrived in Gold Coast!

Well, here I am, just hours after jetting into the Gold Coast. I was fairly excited about coming here - the sunshine, the beach, the laidback feel. But my excitement died as we touched down on the tarmac. Why? Because it was grey clouds and 18 degrees. 18 degrees!?!?!?! That's how warm it was in Melbourne when I left! I was rather pissed off.

My apartment is adequate. Kinda biggish for one person but I'm not complaining. If there's one thing I hate, it's motel-style couches and that's precisely what I'm sitting on right now. Bleah. Something about them makes me consider them filthy. If I break out in a rash this week, I'll know why.

My apartment's lounge. More photos to follow once it's daylight!

On the upside, I'm directly opposite Pacific Fair where they proudly advertise in their brochure as 'home to the only Myer on the Gold Coast'. Really? There's only one here? I swear there was another one.

I arrived too late in the afternoon for the larger supermarkets to remain open so I had to eat two chicken pies for dinner. I guess I got the nutritional requirement of meat and vegies for the day? aarrgh.. I am dying for that daily morsel of fruit though.

Circle Night

This blog is dedicated to Kt who requested photos of the remaining members of the Circle because she misses us so much. It's so lonely in NYC isn't it? Let me rub that in your face a little bit more with some photos :P We miss you too!

First up was dinner at Tomodachi. The food was fairly average Japanese and of course, run by non-Jap folks. We had scintillating conversation by which Bao described an incident of some loser from uni who wiped his nose and then unfalteringly, licked those same fingers which came in contact with his discharge. GROSS! Bao didn't manage to ruin my dinner though.

Bao in pain, Meme looking sneaky.

Spot the Tina! Me perusing the menu.

I got accused of looking like Nicole Ritchie (errr....), which is rather insulting as I do not look like a lollipop.

Here's Kahoons, fresh off the plane from Sydney.

Bao looking extremely unimpressed with the Circle photo. More photos to come!

After dinner, some of us still weren't satisfied, thus a trip to Ichipan crepes was required. Bao's teeth rotted while eating her nutella-filled crepe.

Our next venue was Manchuria, where we loitered until there was available seating.

Meme, Searnsie, Dr Wong and Poz.
Glenda looking very upset. AH must've sent him a rude sms. Meme, Kahoons and Dr. Wong. Kahoons looking wasted.

It's hard to take a pic of Bao not unimpressed.

If there's one thing Bao and I like doing, it's being stupid. Lil Miss J has her chin down/looking up pose, Meme has her honkie pose and several of us have our disgusting cross eyed pose. In the spirit of posing, Bao and I decided to make a new one. We call this our "Cute" pose.

Aren't we adorable? We both couldn't get over how shiny our hair looks. We thinks it's the Tresemme.

We tested our poses individually, but Bao ended up looking normal and I ended up looking idiotic.

Another one of Bao's artistic shots.

Bao has a bao in the oven!

More photos of us!

Meme, someone's feeling you up.

Moo joined us later in the night. All in black - so Melbourne.

Finally, a photo of the remaining members of the Circle in Melbourne. J was meant to be here too but couldn't make it out and Meme left early. Sorry Kahoons, someone cropped out your head.

We capped off our night at Stalactites and while I went a little camera-happy at dinner and Manchuria, I was too hungry to bother taking any shots while eating souvlaki. I hope you got your fix of us, Kt and Lil Miss J! Anyway, this will be the last time where the majority of the Circle will be in Melbourne. *sob* I guess that means that we'll be partying in London!

New Handbag

Yesterday, I did something unnecessary yet highly typical of me - yes, I bought another handbag. Mind you, my last purchase was a good four months ago so it's not as though I buy bags all the time. Anyway, I like to think of them as investment pieces. Many of the bags I use, most of you have seen over and over again!

I like to classify this bag as one that falls into the 'ugly chic' category. Sitting on the shelf it looks kinda yuck, but it looks ok on your shoulder. Regardless I bought this bag based on functionality. Most of my bags are of similar size and barely fit all the junk I cart around. I really needed a bag that could carry a bottle of water and an umbrella at the same time. It also fell into my budget and the leather is so soft as well! YAY! A non-impulse purchase!

I showed Bao and Leesh at dinner and I was given approval. But as if they will tell me it's ugly anyway.

Home Again

Well, it's that time again, I'm back in Melbourne. Don't think anything eventful will happen this week. Just meeting up with friends, dinner, sort out my room etc. What I'm looking forward to is getting some proper sleep!

Smee's Soldered Fingers

Smee's DVD/Mpeg4 player kinda broke and he felt the urge to fix it himself rather than pay an outsider to do so. This involved something to do with the motor that spins the disc and required him to buy a soldering iron. Anyhow, Smee's DIY atttempt was successful and now we have a working DVD player - yay!

However, all success stories have a bit of drama. Smee somehow managed to touch the tip of soldering iron and burnt his little thumb and index finger. Lucky for him, it didn't blister thanks to moi and my limited first aid knowledge.

City2Surf

There was something peculiar about the City2Surf this year ....... I was in it! Hee hee!

I just thought I should post up some photographic evidence of me doing something remotely strenuous. There are some non-believers out there who guffawed at my announcement that I was doing a 14 kilometre trek. Such ridicule included outright laughter in my face or comments like 'Babe, it's NOT a food eating competition'. Others seemed to think that I was amazing and made the rather flattering yet ambitious assumption that I was doing a proper triathlon with a swim in the ocean. As if I could manage that with my almost-drowning swimming skills.

The crowd along College St, next to Hyde Park waiting for the starting gun.

What? I work for Deloitte? I just did it so I could get catering at the beach. I got a free cap!

I felt a bit ripped off with my cap though. I didn't even realise it was printed upside until I got home!

The crowd walking towards Kings Cross. You can kinda make out the Coca Cola sign.

Smee and I somewhere in Vaucluse I think. See the Harbour bridge? Maybe not.

Bondi Beach.

Me on the beach!

Oh no! I've grown a funny looking pimple on my neck! Smee being silly.

Ok, I just realised there aren't any photos of me doing any actual walking/running but you should all trust me here. I'm embarrassed to say that the 14 km trek did take THREE hours but that's only because we walked most of it. I guess that kinda worked out better, cos neither of us were sore at the aftermath. We did go home and sleep for two hours though.

Worried

I have 10 hours until the City2Surf and despite the best intentions, I have done zilch training. I'M GONNA BE SO SCREWED!!! I'm joining about 63 000 other people for a 14 kilometre 'jog' down to Bondi beach from the city. Here's hoping I wont be too sore to post up anymore blogs. Cos you know, that's all that matters.

Friday Night F**ked Up Pictures

At Bao's insistence, I have put up these effed up photos of herself and Mona. I find these photos so repulsive but cos I love her so much, I'll put them up! :P

Check out Bao's blog, her intro page is hiliarious!

French Toast Again!

At our insistence, Lymbo and I forced Kahoons to have french toast with us. So off we trotted back to Cafe De Campbell with Lymbo's cousin, Dru-poo and requested four servings of french toast. Kahoons said he wasn't too impressed despite his very big grin. I think we hyped it up too much. But c'mon, check out how thick the toast is! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! So yummy! Hmm I seem to think everything is yummy on this blog. A rather indiscriminate palate I do have.

Kahoons with his toastie.

Me and Dru poo looking as nerdy as possible.

Won Ton Soup

Smee and I made won tons for dinner and had it dry noodle style. Yum yum! Don't mistake the egg noodles for Mi Goreng! Just want to prove that I am eating properly.

Ok, Bao just pointed out that the Coke Zero was very 'healthy', so I'm just gonna clarify it's Smee's coke. I rarely drink Coke and if anything, tend to avoid it. My plate is the one in the background!

Friday Night Drinks and French Toast!

Lymbo and I were dying to go and have a bit of a girls' night out. I dunno about her, but I was pretty desperate for a good drink too! Too bad I had to work the next day. Thus, all chances of any excessive drinking were ruined.

First stop was Privilege. A shitty underground bar, akin to the Piano Bar in Warehouse prior to the renovations that eventually became the infamous Salt. Maybe Privilege is a bit worse than that. The similarities are undeniable - dark black interior, cement floor, cheap drinks and packed-to-the-walls with asians. The only difference is that these asians are usually in business suits. Corporate or not, you can't take the RnB out of most asians.

As you descend the stairs into darkness, be prepared for the bitchy evils you encounter from other females. Girls only dress to impress other girls. Anyway, we only went there to meet up with a friend. We had a few girly drinks (lychee liqueur, cranberry juice and a squeeze of lime - try it!) and headed off.

Next stop was The Loft at King St Wharf. I quite like this bar/lounge, although the crowd is a bit so-so. It is actually a very nice place to go to on a mild, sunny Sunday afternoon as the bar overlooks the water into Darling Harbour. They have some very interesting cocktails too. A silly girl bumped into me as we collected our cocktails and I spilt some of it onto my jacket, which kinda peeved me a bit. She didnt even notice that it also spilt onto her own jacket! Serves you right, cow.

Lymbo enjoying her Napoli Iced Tea with blood orange, lemon, cointreau and some other stuff.

Me and my Rose and Orange Blossom Martini. I'm not really a martini drinker but this was yummy!

Due to our old age, we capped off a relatively early night with a trip to Chinatown's exotic Cafe De Campbell. Yeah, if I owned a Honky cafe, I'd call it that. We were served here by a 50 year old asian midget who had adorned himself with maroon dyed, helmet hair. No offence to midgets, but I couldn't think of any other noun or adjective. I've only ever eaten one thing here - french toast. It's surprisingly good!

Lunch in Chifley Food Court

I had lunch in the Chifley Plaza food court with a few friends. I wish I took a photo of the Curry Katsudon I ate, which was surprisingly good for food court standards. However, had I done that, I would have embarrassed all of those around me.

Mippy and I. Mippy desperately needed a haircut.

Tlee and Stina, who managed to get Jetstar flights to Nippon! Damn you!

P-sang and I. Poor guy was a bit sick, but yay, he wasn't contagious! haha, such a self-centred comment. Hope you are better in time for City2Surf! I'm gonna be screwed!

Dinner with VV and ##s

Tuesday night constituted meeting up with two friends who lived with me while in college. ##s, VV-poo and I ate a little korean restaurant in an almost dodgy alley opposite George St cinemas called Cafe Cua. I had my Yukwe Bibimbap (raw meat on rice with vegies) mmm mmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmm and we left smelling like korean bbq. Twas a cosy restaurant and the food isn't bad, although I wouldn't call myself a Korean food connoiseur, but I have tasted some pretty bad korean.

##s and VV.

An off-centred attempt at a self portrait.

Oh, that's much better! Sorry ##s, I cut out your face.
