So I went home for a long weekend (and a more importantly, a dentist appointment) and while waiting for my flight back to Rad-City, I errr bought half a dozen of assorted Krispy Kreme donuts.
I know, I know. Wtf was I thinking? I'm all alone in Rad-City. I can't eat all of this! Because I'm so Asian and loathe discarding food, I've decided to eat two per night for dessert for the next three nights. Ok fine, I admit, I did want to eat them!
(I've now decided I don't like the cruller donut at all.)

Eating Random Stuff
When nothing is going on my blogging world, I tend to post random things I've eaten. So here's a collection thus far:
Mango pudding for dessert at yum cha in.... Preston! Wtf?! Yeah, Gold Leaf Restaurant is quite decent! You won't see the entrance on the street. You have to enter up a flight of stairs into an ex-pool parlour (and probable ex-drug dealing lair).
After yum cha, we went to Bread Top (also in Preston - wtf!?) and I picked a dessert for Moo's lamb roast dinner. Despite being full, I also picked out a Banana In Pyjama cake for myself. Mmm.. light sponge casing around a banana and cream... mmmmm
Back in the City of Rad (keep in mind, this is not the same day as the pudding and the banana!), I went to Bread Top and got myself a hot dog bun. These hot dog buns are bad, bad, bad but they always look at me longingly whenever I walk past. Sometimes, I just can't resist.
Bread Top is conveniently located in Chinatown, where I also picked up some instant Ying Yong mix. For similar products you can check out the Kampery website. For those not in the know, Ying Yong is a coffee-milk tea mixture and Smee usually orders some for me when we eat in HK cafes. I mean, I could just get the same effect by making some coffee and making some tea and then mixing it together with milk. But what I've paid for is convenience!

Bistro Vue
Dr. R was in town on one of his work trips and work trips include food allowances. Where else to eat but fine dining restaurants? We had our heart set on Vue de Monde but weren't able to secure a reservation in time. The next best thing would be Bistro Vue, Vue de Monde more rustic, provincial sister. (Disney's Beauty and the Beast just ran through my head). Moo easily beat me to the blogging and has already posted her side of the story.
The restaurant is more shabby chic relaxed than black tie formal and with the accordion player in the corner, you could easily be whisked away into the French countryside. The stripped paintwork, wrought iron lamp fixtures, the worn, wooden tables, the poufy chaise loungey chairs and the knick-knack, casually mismatched floral plates were all so quaint. *claps hands with glee!!*
Now, on to the food. The menu wasn't extensive but it certainly was tough narrowing down the choices. We even had to shoo the waitress away so we could think about it some more.
The food is heavy but it's French food and you know, life's too short to not enjoy such luxuries. Just make sure you down a glass of red on the side. Aaah that's just too easy....

Mooey and I were more than happy to share the garlic butter escargots. Mmmmm sluggy...
Our mains:- My canard confit which I enjoyed with the house pinot noir. I'm a sucker for duck. Moo's cassoulet, one of today's specials. Dr. R's wagyu with fat pomme frites.
Our sides:- Fennel salad and goose fat frites. Mmm mmm mmmm ... food so good, so artery clogging but we adhered to the French Paradox and swilled our red wines down.
Our desserts:- My raspberry trifle. Moo's madeleines with apple puree and honey ice cream. Dr. R's chocolate souffle with extra chocolate on the side. *lip smacking goodness*
